Day Six
POSTED BY Eugene Kan 07/09/2010
Hey there, I’m Eugene Kan out of Hong Kong, managing editor at the #2 online magazine in the world (Jay Smith and BKRW are nestled in at #1), Hypebeast… and to talk about frivolous stuff that interests about 12 people or so, I have a personal site at eugenekan.com. It took me awhile to actually get the chance to listen to my track but having initially seen the lyrics, I felt that in all honesty, the ability to create a series of photos relating to the subject matter would be rather difficult. I don’t exactly go out to live a life that brings to light the unfortunate lives’ of others so it’s probably difficult to capture some of the emotions and visuals that pertain to the song. I’ve always shot a lot of photos on my own as a hobby, but I think I got a little taste of what it means to be a professional who has to go out and shoot based on a brief. Making something contrived look natural… there’s the difference between an amateur and a pro.
There’s no doubt that there are unfavorable circumstances everywhere, but at the very least, acknowledging their existence is the first step to remedy. Every day, there are cringe-worthy moments that often question the regression of humanity… but as Patrice puts it best, “What am I going to do?”. Nobody can force you to do anything, but addressing the “situation” whatever it may be ensures a more fulfilling landscape for you, me and everybody around you.
Hong Kong seems to the world’s greatest juxtaposition. Plant life/concrete, billion dollar buildings/decrepit all buildings.
Yeh it gets pretty rainy in Hong Kong.
Preparation is the key?
perpetually opening and closing. Do something about it.
People always seem to be going somewhere for something.
There’s always a certain attraction with organized chaos. Things that are similar and neat, yet inherently shuffled and mixed up.
I hope you’re not religious ladies…
Step back and smell the roses… literally.

Love comes in many forms, even through a coarsely-made poop couple.
